WELCOME TO SANTA CRUZ
COUNTY
ACTORS' THEATRE
Serving Santa Cruz County since 1985, we support,
champion, and provide a venue for the performing arts with emphasis on the
theatrical arts. In furtherance of this mission, we:
- Offer a subscription season,
some self-produced and others co-produced with local producers, hiring
local actors and other theater artists
- Hold playwriting contests
for aspiring playwrights of ages K-12 and adults, in short short
(5-minute) format, 10 minute format, and full-length plays, and bring
the winners' plays to life on the stage
- Offer low-cost workshops
in theater crafts, such as directing and auditioning skills
- Make our theater available to educational
theater projects of the Empire Academy, the Georgiana
Bruce Kirby School, Spring Hill School, and Gateway School
- Rent out our theater
at cost to independent theater companies, one-person shows, and
improvisational theater groups who need affordable appropriate space in
which to practice and perform their art
- Host the summer Improvfest,
showcasing many local improvisational theater troupes as well
as out-of-town groups, entertaining Santa Cruz's many summer visitors
- Are in the process of developing an
apprenticeship program in conjunction with Cabrillo
Community College
